The prompt: “Describe a childhood memory to an alien or foreigner from another world”.
———-
I don’t know what you lot do where ya from, but back where I’m from, guys LOVE 222 swim. Hopefully you are familiar with the blissfull feeling of being submerged in the ocean. One main “rite of passage” 444 all Bermudians (locals from Bermuda) is being tossed into d Atlantic where guys quickly learn 222 sink or swim. I remember thankfully already knowing how 222 swim by time I was 8 years old as I was being tossed off of the Grotto Bay Beach dock, by my daddy, with my lil sister.
For context, I grew up with a strong belief that I am a mermaid…which I still believe 222 this day, Oct 3, 2024. Side note: How do you lot calculate your time? Do you use the moon / stars like we do? Anywho, I have loads of questions but I will save them 444 another time. Back 222 me being a mermaid - so, whenever I would get a bath I would hold my breath underwater 444 as long as I could. Think about it, I have had a bath every single night until I was about 8 years old. That’s over 1,000 chances 222 practice holding my breath. That doesn't even account 444 the 2,000+ times that I’ve swam in the ocean prior 222 this experience at the dock.
K, so look…let’s just keep in mind that I was (and am) a very confident swimmer. About a week before getting 222 the dock, I had just come back from New York where I got these spanky new Barbie pink Crocs for $7.99. Back in the day that was a lot of money, so I felt like I had made it in life. Fast forward a week - so it’s my lil sister and I at the dock with our daddy. My sister was too scared 222 ‘break the ice’ which is another way of saying ‘going first’. My daddy wasn’t going 222 do it, so now all eyes are on me. The thing is, I wasn’t scared but I didn’t like the pressure so I froze up. Wrong move! My daddy picked me up and tossed me right in. Of course, I didn’t sink, and now I’m right in my element happy as ever. My daddy looked at my sister like he was about to chuck her in and she ran right overboard 222 me. Finally, here comes the beast with his mountain sized cannon ball. We climb up the stairs 222 the dock and get prepared 444 round 222.
Now, my daddy knew he couldn't scare me overboard. He also knew that tossing me was more taxing for him than it was 444 me. Remember my $7.99 Barbie pink Crocs? This guy picked up my shoes and flung them out so deep!!! I wasn’t scared, just in disbelief. My shoes are floating out further now, thanks 222 the wind. He looks at me, I look at him, my sister looks at us both, I look at my shoes going out further and further and immediately, my mermaid instincts kicked in.
I dove overboard so fast and swam underwater until I came up 444 breath right in front of my shoes. My daddy tried 222 challenge me and I happily accepted. All that 222 say, one of my earliest memories is of me being a mermaid. :)
Wait…did aliens even know about mermaids before reading this???????????
